Julia E. Collins is a hairstylist at NV Studio Salon, and I came to visit her studio to help her create a plan that would bring in more business. She’s responsive and will answer a message at any time within reason.

Julia in her business promotes and sells healthy clean products for your hair with a little cleaning supply. She supports local artists in the Sioux Falls area and sells their artwork in her workplace to help them. Typically Julia supporters are local artists and a few dedicated people who love to come in and get a great haircut from her.

In Julia’s social media we’ll be refocusing on her business with the Facebook page and expanding her social media experience into Instagram. The reason for choosing Instagram is to reach out to younger folks in the local area. Will also be promoting both platforms with the hashtag, #SiouxFallsLocal. The reason for choosing this hashtag is that she can connect with other local businesses and artists that can use and promote her own business through them. Discussing with her about posts in person by asking if incorporating videos would be something she’ll want to do. She did reply that would be ok to add to the plan. That we both agreed at least two posts, a week are good and that they should be at the times of 11 AM and 4 PM because those are the peaks when people are either going for lunch or just getting off and looking at their phone. I also encouraged Julia to ask local customers, businesses, and artists to share her posts to keep the expense of not having to boost posts down and further expand her company to other people.

The way we’ll measure the success of this will be looking for examples of posts that I’ll personally give to her and see how many Likes/Hearts from all the posts and add them up from the week before Christmas to the end of March. We’ll compare that from the last three months before that and see how much it will change in Likes and see if Instagram is another media she can use for her business and reach younger folks and people who support local businesses.
